Vine Baptist Church Ministry Leaders

Church Secretary:  Val Pitt brings considerable experience to the role, having been Church Secretary previously, as well as having been an Elder in the church.  She has also worked as a BMS World Mission volunteer, with a placement at a children's hostel in India.  For all matters relating to the running of the church and use of the premises, Val is the person to contact!

Church Finances: The finances of Vine Baptist Church are managed by our Treasurer, Keith Adams.  Keith is a very safe pair of hands, having worked all his life for Midland Bank / HSBC!

Vine Baptist Church has a giving culture.  Over 15% of all church income is given to missionary and other worthy causes.

Our Youth Minister is Dave Garrett, a dynamic, gifted and popular leader who has been involved in youth work for many years.  He is a qualified Youth Worker and has recently become the full time Youth Minister leading the young people of the Vine Baptist and Vine Evangelical Churches, and working closely with SAYT with the young people of the district.

Children and Youth  David Checkley is the Ministry Leader responsible for coordination of the church's work with children and young people.  As well as a career as a senior Police Officer, David has a lifetime's experience working with young people. A truly experienced man for the post!  David works closely with our Youth Minister, Dave Garratt, and the leaders of the other children’s ministries.

Outreach and Evangelism  As Christians we must take seriously Jesus' 'Great Commission' to go into all the world and preach the Word of God to all.  Vine Baptist Church's mission is to be "the hands and feet of Jesus in the community bringing people closer to a loving and caring God". 

We do not currently have a Ministry Leader responsible for our Outreach and Evangelism activities. 

Pastoral Care  Jenny Marchant is the Ministry Leader who leads our dedicated and enthusiastic Pastoral Care team.  See the Pastoral Care page for more information.

Worship   The whole of our life as a Christian should be given in worship to God!  However in the context of our worship in church we always think of our musical and prayer offerings.  At Vine Baptist Church this is the responsibility of Fiona Murray in conjunction with the Pastor and our Music Group leader, Guy Saunders.  Together with the Worship Team they are constantly looking for new and fresh ways of leading services and inspiring us in our worship of Almighty God.  Our music group is comprised of a number of talented and versatile singers and musicians playing a variety of instruments.  Together they make it so much easier to praise God in song - the sound is great!

Buildings  The present Vine Baptist Church was built in 1887. We have fine and attractive premises situated in a conservation area. Careful maintenance and upkeep are therefore of great importance as well as being our responsibility as stewards of this wonderful asset.  The ongoing job of maintaining the various church buildings and leading the planning for future developments to bring the premises into line with current legislation and plans for the future, falls to our Buildings Ministry Leader, James Penn.
